Installing a fire extinguisher

I've decided to take the two stainless bars off that sat in front of the radiator and Ive fitted black number plates. I think this has improved the look of the car, from the front, quite conciderably.

During the 2002 Dax Open Day, I was talking to Simon Finlay. He's fitted a fire extinguisher under his Cobra's bonnet. Basically it's plumbed in so if there's a fire he can pull a lever under the dash and this triggers the extinguisher. He'd previously built a Pilgrim which caught fire, so he was going to make sure the same thing didn't happen again. It looked pretty good, sitting under the bonnet and it could save the car from burning to a crisp, or at least give you enough time to get out of it before being burnt to a crisp. Because I've got a fuel injected engine, the fuel pressure sits around 40 psi, so if I had a leak it would soon cover the engine and possibly catch alight. I decided I'd fit one to mine.

The kit comes from LifeLine, it includes 2 nozzles, a length of pipe, 2 pull cords and a 2.25l extinguisher. When ordering I asked for a stripped and polished extinguisher, it looks better in silver than in red. The total price was £144. Not bad really.

Fitting was reasonably easy, only had to move the header tank forward a little in order to generate some space. I put the pull cord under the steering column and the nozzles either side of the engine.
