Several years ago I added some features that I needed for my project and other people were asking for to the basic MegaSquirt firmware that B+G (Bowling and Grippo) developed. This firmware was called the MS-Enhanced code. In the mean time, James Murray was developing the B+G firmware to allowed all the memory pages of the microprosessor to be used making the available flash 8 times larger. James and I then joined forces and have been busy ever since, amalgamating code and adding more and more features that people wanted. The code is now known as the MS1-Extra code. With the release of B+G's MegaSquirt II, the MS1-Extra code was still the most popular choice amongst MegaSquirt ECU users. James Murray and Ken Culler decided to turned their attention to adding extra functions to the B+G MSII which is now known as MS2-Extra code. Whilst they did the firmware for MSII, I got on with the MS1-Extra manuals and then moved onto doing the MS2-Extra manuals. I have been fitting MS ECU's for a few years now and have been heavily involved with the design and beta testing of all the aspects of MegaSquirt and the MS-Extra circuitry, indeed a high percentage of the circuits in the manuals are from James and I. As the MS-Extra codes became more and more popular, the original MegaSquirt forum became a little over run, so it was decided to split the Extra code away from the B+G code. This allowed us to concentrate more on backing up the Extra derived firmware. The official MegaSquirt Extra forum is MSEXTRA.COM , Im daxtojeiro, one of the administrators.
